Can't believe that Bob Arum is obliging Hopkins. New side to Bob.
Just shows that it is truth in what Bernard said because usually

He's not really, just putting BHop on the spot. Hopkins is the most vocal/visible of the 'Manny avoids African-Americans' movement. So as the defacto leader, Bob's leaving it up to him to make the decision. If Arum sends him a list with Mayweather, Mosley, and Berto on it... logically everyone would expect him to choose Floyd. But Hop is a VP at GBP and knows Floyd wants nothing to do with Manny. So if B-Hop, an employee of GB, picks Floyd and Floyd stays on vacation or turns down the fight again... then the public backlash against Mayweather (and now GBP) will increase.

If he chooses Berto (he won't) he's another Haymon fighter who is reluctant to fight top competition and Al won't feed his prospect to the Pac monster, another move that would be perceived as a blatant duck by the public.

If he chooses Mosley, then everyone will say he's just throwing his friend a bone and all the complaining about a Mosley fight would seem ****** since it was Hopkins' choice, not Arum's (obviously not true, but that's how it will appear to the public).

So unless Floyd steps up (he won't and everyone at GBP knows this), then it's a lose-lose situation... but Arum with this move has made it Hopkins' decision, not his (Arum's). So any public backlash about whatever opponent is chosen will be geared towards the guy who was given the power to choose from the list of African-American fighters that Manny is supposedly ducking.

You got Mayweather, an African American that don't give a damn that's a faster fighter than Pacquiao is. Look at the haters, hating on Pacquiao. Floyd Mayweather Jr. himself said he had no knowledge of their negotiations last time around. He's been silent about Pacquiao's performance last Saturday. He does not want to fight Pacquiao. He does not care about blood tests or anything (notice he is not pushing for other fighters to get random blood tests?) and if he did you would see him in the headlines saying, "I want this fight, come on Manny and take the tests." He's silent because he does not want Pacquiao.

After Mayweather who else should Pacquiao fight? Shane Mosley is a top welterweight still even if he is getting long in the tooth. Berto is the next top guy at welterweight that Pacquiao hasn't fought. All three (Mayweather, Mosley, Berto) are good fighters and legitimate opponents for Manny. People complaining about these fights are just mindlessly hating and I can only assume they aren't real boxing fans because any fan of the sport would love to see Pacquiao fight any of these three fighters.

I would go so far as to say that anybody who does not like both Floyd Mayweather Jr. (the best active defensive boxer in the world) and Manny Pacquiao (the best active offensive fighter in the world) is not a true boxing fan.
