Comments Thread For: Marquez Still Wants Pacquiao Trilogy: At 143 or 144 Pounds

WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (51-5-1, 37 KOs) continues to ask for something that he probably won't receive in the near future. As quoted by Ricardo Lois of the examiner, Marquez appeared on ESPN’s Golpe a Golpe and said that he was willing to face Manny Pacquiao at a catch weight between 140 and 147-pounds. Marquez would like a catch-weight of 143 or 144-pounds.

floyd-jmm ruined this fight for me.

they would have fought 3 times, in 3 weightclasses, for 3 different titles.

its pointless if they fight now..

Does anyone seriously think a fat bloated 38 year old Marquez can take on Pac at welterweight? Seriously...

It'll be Pacquiao-Hatton all over, only difference is when Pac knocks him down 3X in the first round this time, JuanMa ain't getting up to do nothing but retire.

He just wants to cash out and get one more monster pay day/severance package... which he's earned I suppose.

Goodness gracious. I'd like to see this just to end it once and for all. Plus, I think the 24/7 would be good. Especially after Pac joked that JMM not just drink his own piss, but eat his own **** as well.

JMM still have something left, even at an advanced age. At 143, I like his chances. He's the only person who has taken PAC to the limit, as well as visibily wobbled him semi-recently. If Pac/Mayweather doesn't materialze soon, this is the next best fight. If JMM doesn't get caught and dropped, I still think it'll be a closer fight than most think. I'm tired of seeing PAC blowout his opponents lol.

retirement pay day for JMM if Manny agree to fight him. i wouldnt blame him though. he thought he won the second fight. he wants a closure. but the fight against Manny would be too much for JMM at this point.

Completely pointless now. Not that I wouldn't watch it though.

This is a win-win situation for Marquez and a lose-lose situation for Pac. People know Marquez is older, slower, and has no chance against Pac above 135 at this day and age.

Marquez already said he was too slow and heavy against Mayweather, but he'll be ready for Pac?

I don't want to hear the same excuse twice. Unless Pac loses soon, he really shouldn't be in there against Marquez at this point.
