Ricky Burns is set to announce the first defence of his WBO super-featherweight title later this week. The Scotsman defends in Glasgow on December 4th with a venue and opponent expected to be announced at a press conference this Thursday.

Burns is a level headed guy. Hope you can make at least a couple of defenses of that belt and prove nice guys sometimes win!

As a Scot the Martinez fight will always go down as one of my favourite fights of all times.

The crowd, the verses Flower of Scotland and of course Rickys performance after going down in the 1st was a very proud moment for our small nation.

As the article says the decline of Arthur and the disgrace that is Harrison has left us with very little to be proud of the last couple of years so Rickys performance means so much to the boxing fans in Scotland. Champions inspire youngsters so hopefully with a few defenses his profile will be raised further and we can continue to have something to be proud of.
