Comments Thread For: Povetkin vs Oruh is Set For October 16 in Russia

Golzka reports that heavyweight Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14KOs) will return on October 16 against Teke Oruh (14-2, 6KOs) at the Olimpyskiy Sports Palace in Chekhov, Russia. Oruh has not fought for two years, losing his last two fights to Manuel Quezada and Joel Abell. He beat Jason Gavern and has never tasted defeat by knockout. Povetkin will return for the first time since March when he knocked out Javier Mora. No time will be wasted. If all goes well with Oruh, Povetkin will return on October 30 in Stadthalle, Rostock, Germany.

I believe it's only you. Every sane boxing fan knows that Teke Oruh (or however you spell his name) is a perfect dry run for Wlad. Watch out Wlad, Povetkin's comin' ta get ya! (after he's done fighting that random bareknuckle gypsy from Snatch)

I’m still ‘on the fence’ about whether Atlas will help or hinder Povetkin’s boxing career. Unlike most of this forum, I’m not ready to condemn the Atlas-Povetkin pairing until I see several more fights. Also, I like the fact that Povetkin will be fighting twice this month (if all goes to plan). Maybe he’ll fight a couple ‘cans’ now but then steps it up by the end of the year or early 2011….

Basically what I’m trying to say is, let’s not rush to judgment (so quickly) before seeing how things play out. I’m still optimistic about Povetkin…
