And, you would have to remember that both HBO and Showtime would have been fighting on who would of had the rights of the fights. And, neither would of cave in.

That is why it took so long for Lewis-Tyson to get made the kept battling over who would have rights. Finally they work something and also cuz it was a guarantee that fight would of done over a mili PPVs. At the Floyd couldn't even break 400k.

I wouldn't say it was a duck though.
Bro, that was in 2005, they both were headlining and making the big bones. That's boxing politicaca, call someone out you know you can't fight to make yourself look like something you're not, it's a *****move

Right, they were headling 2 separate companies. Who have only work together for one huge fight. No way does Floyd-Kostya break 500k's in 2005 let alone a mili.

Again I think he was selling wolf tickets per say. I agree with that. But, that is just an opinion. He can't be call a duck if he never turned down a fight. He was never offered a fight. Who knows if it was offered if he would of turned it down or take it? Nobodies really knows we just go by what we THINK he would of done.

I wouldn't call it a duck if you want to so be it.

I'm probably the only Pacquiao fan that feels this way, but honestly I never considered Floyd a "ducker".

I see Floyd as a boxer who could have went down as a top 10 ATG but never challenged himself to be great. Beating Pacquiao helps him, but it doesn't change the fact that he passed on fights that could have greatly increased his legacy.

                There are always haters.

Cotto for all he's done taking on a lot of good fighters coming up and his respectful demeanor still gets disrespect.

Pacquiao for all he's done (regardless of his opponents' commitment to boxing) still gets disrespected.

Mosley and De la Hoya took on anybody and still get disrespected.

I don't think it's so much a matter of fans despising what they've done, it's more of a matter of these boxer's fans that turns them off.

I think every avid boxing fan respects boxers and what they do, but subconsciously become bothered when they receive a certain amount of recognition and coverage that at some point becomes unbearable.

                Case in point, Mayweather.

Accurate, defensive, brilliant counterpuncher, great chin, not the most entertaining fighter, but awe-inspiring on the ropes. People get turned off by his rants and demeanor and they criticize his personality, but the fact still stands, he's a marvelous technician of the sport. I'm not defending his actions outside the ring, just pointing out that you've gotta' give respect where respect is due.

Bottom line: Mayweather could beat Pacquiao 2011, go on to 154 and beat Martínez after Martínez is through with Williams in November, probably fight once more in 2012 against a so-so 160-pound weak link titleholder (for ****'s sake) and call it a career.

By then, Saúl Alvarez will be the new 154-pounder becoming the big name, Amir Khan and Bradley will be considered the top 140 pounders, and people will be saying: "Mayweather ducked them, why didn't he take on Khan or Alvarez (or something like that)?"

I don't think there's any fighter who receives unwavering respect and admiration from everybody. There's always **** talkers around, and why should Mayweather concede to every little demand that people make (many of them not even boxing fans, just people who want to see Mayweather lose, period)?

                I'm done here. Peace out.

I would personally, he hasn't done enough consistently against the best fighters, at! their best.

The damage Mayweather has done to his reputation is irreversible imo, he had a chance to patch up his rep when the WW division was stacked with fighters, yet he decided to retire when the division was at its hottest, and only came back when many of those fighters were considered past it, shot, or too old, now i dont see where his opportunities are to make up for that, Pac alone wont do it for me, it will be a one off fight to steal the glory of what Pac has earned for himself, which to me, seems like a con trick.
I agree with this....well said DK .....Floyd is starting to become a lame in the eyes of many boxing fans.....ppl are starting to see through this dude.....I cant understand why he didnt fight Cotto when Cotto was still unbeaten....IMO, Floyd takes Cotto to school......Marg's pressure would've made Floyd uncomfortable but at the end of the day, Floyd wins that one to IMO.....I just dont get why he didnt DEMAND those fights!!.....just like I will NEVER understand why he chose to go on vacation with MAYBE the biggest fight in boxing history on the table!!.....man, I dont understand Floyd

The whole notion of ducking by Floyd and Pac is exaggerated and over the top. Floyd should have fouggt Cotto after he beat Shane. That's my biggest criticism. Fight was a money maker. All the other stuff is just convenient to complain about now. As far Kostya as someone already brought up there was network issues as well as an injury that made that fight a no go. It goes for Floyd fans ripping Pac as well. He fought good/great fighters consistently. My only criticism is I would have rather him face one of the better champions at 135lbs for his lone fight there. These guys didn't make it to where They are fighting bums.

Mayweather carefully chose opponents his whole career. If he were to get the courage to fight Pacquiao and win he would deserve praise for a great win but his career is still his career.
