Comments Thread For: Emanuel Steward on Wladimir Klitschko vs. Nikolai Valuev

A lot has been discussed in relation to a possible fight between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and the "Russian Giant," seven-foot Nikolai Valuev. They tried to reach a deal several times in 2010. Every single time they couldn't fully agree on the financial terms. Vitali will now defend his title against Shannon Briggs on October 16.

I thought Valuev just had surgery? He's not going to be ready by December.

Looks like it's one of the typical Alexander Pavlov's BS interviews that never happened.

I've read Alexander Pavlov a few times over the years. Are you saying Pavlov fabricates interviews?

          Valuev is crap.

But it would make a great gif image if one of the brothers was able to KO that fatty. He may be a big guy, but I doubt he has fought someone who can punish him like the Klitschkos can.

It's hard to come up with a reason why I don't want to see Wlad-Valuev. I just rather see Vitali-Valuev.

Maybe because Vitali has more of a killer instinct and will actually try and get Valuev out of there rather than having to be begged by his corner? Maybe it's that Wlad is younger and can use that youth to fight more athletic opponents than Valuev? Maybe because Vitali has a broader frame that is more similar to Valuevs compared to Wlad?

Just make Vitali-Valuev and Wlad-Haye and make the boxing fans happy.

I suspect because Team Klitschko is having such a hard time finding a viable opponent (for Dec) Emmanuel Stewart is trying to drum up some interest in a Valuev fight. The problem is, is that Valuev just had shoulder surgery..

IDK, would he have proper time to heal and then go through a hard training camp? If he had the surgery in August, he has all of September-October to heal and then has a little over a month to train. Does anyone have any experience here with should injury? How long does it take to heal? etc., etc?...

Yes, I am. Not all of them, but some of them definitely full of crap. He writes for infamous ********, which is known for its hate of Klitschkos brothers and mostly everything Ukrainian. 99% of his articles are either ridiculuosly biased and/or he's trying to put Klitschkos in negative light in every way he can.

Yeah, I agree. Not saying that Steward didnt say these things, but Ive read a lot of Steward interviews over the past few years and its rare that he doesnt throw in, "oh, (opponent) is great, but wlad will mercilessly KO him...in fact this guy doesnt belong in the same country as wlad. Hes an amazing fighter dont get me wrong, but I hope he has a great life insurance policy because Wlad will possibly kill him in the ring." Ive never read an interview before where Steward talks about how wlad will struggle against anyone, especially not a POS like Valuev. Valuev is more suited to Vitali who although he loves fighting at a distance I can see just enjoying teeing off on Valuevs dome.
