Comments Thread For: Abner Mares-Nacho Beristain Reunion For Darchinyan Bout?

According to the word going around in Mexico, undefeated bantamweight Abner Mares is going to reunite with ex-trainer Nacho Beristain to prepare for his fall bout with IBO champion Vic Darchinyan. Mares and Beristain had a nasty split in May of last year. The trainer broke ties with Mares after the young fighter signed a contract with manager Frank Espinoza.

Would be good for both parties to get back together, IMO Abner will be better off going back to Nacho, though Frank also got Abner that breakout fight with Perez.

Can't wait for this fight to be made, this will be fireworks!

Something about the Romanza Gym and Nacho's training that puts all of his fighters in excellent condition. I wouldn't go back to a trainer who split with me because he didn't like my choice in manager (unless it was Carl King), but if Mares is cool with it then it's a solid move.

Mares is the future. P4P material developing right in front of our eyes.

Nacho was prolly hurt when Mares dug a manager Nacho's not cool with, hence the ugly split. Well I guess Abner realizes that and hence extends going back.

Hurt or not, it was a petty issue that a strong trainer-fighter relationship should have gotten over. And it was Nacho who insisted on parting ways, if it were up to Abner, they wouldn't have split in the first place.

            Yeah.

Looks like someone didn't get the memo and was blown outta proportion.

I like this pairing, I thought they worked good together. I also thought Nacho was being childish with the whole Ezpinoza situation. As long as Nacho trains and Espinoza manages I think Mares will be alright.
