Comments Thread For: Andre Berto's Side Not Interested in Selcuk Aydin Fight

BoxingScene.com was advised by Andre Berto's promoter, Lou DiBella, that there is currently no interest in a fight with Selcuk Aydin (20-0, 15KOs). On Monday, the WBC ordered Berto (26-0, 20KOs) to defend his welterweight title against Aydin, who won the WBC's silver title with a controversial June decision over Ionut "Jo-Jo" Dan. DiBella and Aydin's co-promoters, Don King and Ahmet Öner of Arena Box, have until September 17 to reach a deal before the fight heads to a purse bid. [Click Here To Read More]

Berto "I have no desire to fight someone who is an actual welterweight in my next fight".

    What a surprise.

What i think it really is,is that HBO won't put up the money for this lame ass fight..So they woud have to shop it too either Showtime or ESPN which means way less money..They should just wait it out for Mosley it's the only fight HBO wants for this kid..I'm telling you they want to cash out on him.Put him in with Mosley Berto gets KO'd then we will see him on Showtime or ESPN for good..

Why would Berto wanna fight, whatever his name is...nobody wants to see this...

Berto should fight before the year ends though...I say fight this guy or give Collazo a rematch...

His options are probably this guy and Kotelnik though...they probably don't wanna fight Collazo...difficult fight and I don't think they cud sell many tickets unless they fought in NY maybe...

So is Berto going to give up his WBC belt and recognition with it?

It doesnt matter whether he is popular in the States. The WBC ordered the fight meaning that if it doesnt happen, Berto will proberbly be stripped. He should just take the fight and if he wins then he can have bigger fights after that. Let's not forget Berto hasnt fought any strong opposition other than Collazo. He should fight this guy just to prove his worth. It's not like he's an established fighter like Floyd Mayweather who can just fight whoever he wants because of his name and what he has already done.

                    Berto needs to prove himself.
