    ^^this

a real fan should be able to enjoy more aspects of the sport than one. its okey to prefer slugfests or aggressive fighters. but when someone cant appreciate boxing skills at all and call people who box runners, that means they dont know the sport. u dont have to like ali or peps style, but u cant say they are trash fighters just cuz they are defensive.. thats just ignorant.

On the other hand, most boxing fans who like strictly all out wars like the one's I mentioned, would not be too fond of Dawson-Johnson II, Wlad fights, Hopkins-Jones I, Mayweather fights etc.

And that is the difference between us. We like 'boring' and 'exciting, while you like 'exciting' and **** on the 'boring' fights.

i think imma pop in Byrd-Williamson and pretend to like it so i can feel like a real boxing fan

So it's not really that there are real or fake boxing fans. It's more like who actually likes the sport of boxing in it's entirety and every style of fights the sport has to offer to us. That's why We, defensive loving fans, sometimes may look down on you guys that only like one type of fight.

It's like me saying I love baseball but call it boring when there are no home runs instead of praising the pitchers for not allowing to get hit and pitching such a great game.

I see it all the time. Casual fans of sports are like this. They only appreciate 50% of the sport. And that's the exciting part of the sport, only. You want to use the excuse that you have been watching it for a long time so you're a real boxing fan? That doesn't cut it, sorry.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

You don't have to pretend to like a fight but there is no need to **** on it unless it's a Ruiz fight or a hug fest. I have never seen Byrd-Williamson but if it was a hugging contest then no i'm not too fond of those fights unless it's like how Williams and Mosley fought against Margarito they hugged him for a reason not just for fun or because they loved him.

Who cares really. You like who you like and its all good. Thatas why there are different style fighters to begin with. Its all good for me. I dislike as many fighters as I do like and there are all different types. To each his own.

It is about can you appriciate the styles for what they are, if you can only appricitate certain styles then to me you are not really watching the sport for all it is.

It is a lot easier to like blood and gut wars so when people dicuss fighters who don't do that and fans do not show a grain of apprician to that style it is hard to call that person a true fan of the sport because they only like certain aspects.

It is not about liking fights because there are always ****ty fights that people can dog, it is about a total appriciation of the sport.

It is like a basketball fan only watching for dunks or a baseball fan only watching for home runs. Those aren't real fans to me, and boxing has them also~

If you take offence to this line of thinking you ain't a real fan either

probably because it takes time to appreciate defensive fighters
casual fans just yawn at them because theyre boring

Because anyone can appreciate a good KO, not everyone can appreciate (or even notice for that matter) defensive technique.

Anyone can appreciate a homerun, it's the reason why we have home run derby. Only a baseball or a fan of a team can appreciate a pitchers' duel.

Watching a defensive fighter is like drinking a fine wine, until you been doing it for awhile you won't know the ****ing difference.

I also think that people who box or have at least tried boxing understand how hard it is to good defensively, counter, slide punches, etc. So they will have much more respect for it than your average fan who just wants to see brawling.
