Comments Thread For: Shumenov Clears His Name, Outworks Uninspired Uzelkov

For three rounds, it was an intriguing night at the fights. For the next nine, it was an exercise in repetitive domination, a story told by a beltholder who was trying to win and a challenger who could hardly be said to be doing the same. In the end, 26-year old WBA Light Heavyweight titlist Beibut Shumenov (10-1, 6 KO) of Kazakhstan put lingering debates about his title win earlier this year behind him with a clear unanimous decision over 31-year old Viacheslav Uzelkov (22-1, 14 KO) of the Ukraine on Friday night outdoors at the Tachi Palace and Hotel in Lemoore, California.

Clears his name? No. Shumenov clears his name if he fights and legitimately beats Campillo, preferably in Madrid since Shumenov has had hometown advantage in their previous two fights. If he legitimately beats Campillo, who has beaten him twice, then he clears his name

I thought Shumenov edged out the first fight, but just didn't get the decision. Campillo clearly won the second, but got screwed. In my eyes, they're 1-1, only the wrong decision was reached in both fights. A rubber match is definitely warranted in this case, though Shumenov would be wise to postpone it until he gets more fights under his belt.

Get over the Campillo fights.... for all you Campillo fights. Shumenov got a decision in NV by 2 of the best judges in boxing. He kicked Uzelkov's bout, proved he is a great fighter!

Mate the first fight was a repeat of their rematch ony slightly closer.

Campillo won pretty clearly both times.
