Not only were both Spinks and Foster great, great LHWs, but they also present real tough style matchups. Foster had a considerable height and reach advantage on Jones, a great jab, good hand speed himself, good right hand, and one of the best left hooks boxing has ever seen.
Spinks also has a sizable height and reach advantage on Roy. A great jab, monster right hand, terrific left hand as well (ask Marvin Johnson). And most of all, he was extremely versatile, adapting his game plans based on his opponents. Spinks also beat far, far better light-heavyweights than Roy did.
I'd give them better chances than a lot of the other guys being named, like Sugar Ray Robinson. He peaked at welterweight. Although I suppose it somewhat evens out that Roy was somewhat green and improving at 160.
