We are talking about Wlad (who was knocked down several times in the past), not Vitali who fought Lewis (and was never down in pro boxing)...I think Lewis would have the greatest chance! It looked like it could happen if their fight had carried on. So in his prime (3 years before they fought) an in shape Lewis and not the 19 stone one that turned up to fight vitali, Lewis would Ko him. Lewis just had the best chance tecnically and on top of that he loved fighting guys bigger than himself. when Fighting bigger guys he got much better leverage somehow!Comment

The thread was made by a Klitschko fan...americans are pathetic... you guys bring up the past, and past fighters to try and discredit the klitschkos...... yet you cant face the fact that there beating all the american heavyweights....
the thing is the klitschkos would be competitive in any hw era.... might not be champions, but would be contenders, no doubtComment

Corrie Sanders. Before you vote: Imagine that your LIFE and your PROPERTY would depend on getting it right. If you send in the wrong opponent then you lose your life and property.
Thus choose wisely the one opponent with the greatest chance to KO Wladimir Klitschko without himself getting KOed.
This is a "Time Machine into the Past" match-up (= the current Wladimir Klitschko is being sent back through time to meet the original ATG).
If you think that several can do the job, then of course choose the one with the highest chances.Comment

Liston, Foreman and Tyson would have walked straight through Wlad in their primes, the rest would probably have kayoed him, but I would say that prime for prime everybody on that list would definitely have beaten him.Comment

A Prime Lewis or Foreman would be the most likely, IMO. Lewis and Wlad are very similar style wise, but I think Lewis is more athletic, and would be able to get Wlad out of there. Also, Foreman doesn't need too much explaining, a Prime Foreman would give pretty much every Heavyweight in history a hard nights work.Comment

this is a very fair statement.americans are pathetic... you guys bring up the past, and past fighters to try and discredit the klitschkos...... yet you cant face the fact that there beating all the american heavyweights....

Not really. Fights were longer, more brutal and the ref would allow boxers to take a **** sight more punishment than they do these days, so for that reason I cant see Wlad being a top contender in the 60's or early seventies. Vitali, on the other hand would probably have been a top contender, possibly a champ in any era imo.Comment
