  • Attempt To Ease Out Koncz Who Helped Bobby Pacquiao

Bobby Pacquiao's elder brother Manny Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach and his group are apparently trying to ease out soft-spoken Michael Koncz who was responsible for helping the Philippine super featherweight champion get a crack at world-rated Carlos Navarro’s WBC Continental Americas title after earlier arranging a fight against Mexican journeyman Oscar Villa last November. Pacquiao Singles Out Nathanielsz: Stop Spreading Lies

WHILE a gag order is currently in effect in the Manny Pacquiao Vs. Murad Muhammad court case in New York, Manny Pacquiao just could not help but to feel bad against Manila-based journalist Ronnie Nathanielsz who has continuously peddled lies against his person without verifying facts.

In his most recent hatchet job, Nathanielsz, who writes for the website boxingscene.com and the Manila Standard, portrayed Pacquiao, 2004 Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach and lawyers Keith Davidson and Nicholas Khan as a group who would want to control the career of the younger Pacquiao sibling, Bobby, and take the reins from Canadian Michael Koncz.

Nathanielsz wrote two versions of his story for both publications on June 22, the more scathing of which appeared on boxingscene.com. He even claimed that Pacquiao, who is with his wife in New York attending the trial against his estranged promoter, was offered a round trip ticket to watch Bobby’s fight last Friday in Friant, California. It was one of several brazen lies as Pacquiao was actually all set to plane back to California with Roach until deposition proceedings prevented them from doing so.

Nathanielsz wrote: [Bobby Pacquiao, after his sensational win over Navarro has become hot property and Roach is among those hot on taking him away from Koncz. Viva Sports learned that on the day of the fight lawyer Davidson called Pacquiao and asked him not to sign a contract with anybody. Viva Sports also learned that Roach had been reluctant to be in the corner of Pacquiao and that Manny Pacquiao was offered a roundtrip ticket to watch the fight in Friant, California but declined.]

In the recent past, Nathanielsz has fabricated stories and even quoted people and other sources he hasn’t talked to, in an apparent bid to destroy Pacquiao’s name. He failed miserably as the truth was revealed in due time and his lies refuted including writing articles that portrayed Pacquiao as wanting to become an American citizen and that he wanted to turn his back on his native Philippines, among many others.

In his utter ignorance, lack of information and/or carelessness, Nathanielsz even wrote that Bobby Pacquiao won by knockout in the sixth round. Pacquiao won by KO in the seventh against heavy favorite Carlos Navarro.

“I know Nathanielsz has his own loyalties with other people but it is my fervent hope that he adheres to the professional ethics of journalism,” said Manny Pacquiao in Tagalog. “If he is truly a Filipino at heart, then he should show it. He should get his facts straight, in the first place. That is very important, especially for a writer like him.”

Bobby Pacquiao claimed that he has settled everything with Koncz, who offered to shoulder training and travel expenses in his fight with Navarro. He later referred to Koncz as a “liar” and one who has tried to keep him against his free will. Reportedly, Pacquiao was not even allowed to use the telephone and several attempts to contact him proved futile.

Well-meaning friends took Pacquiao out of Koncz’ house Sunday afternoon after they apparently threatened to call the police if he insisted on keeping Pacquiao any longer.

Upon the request and wishes of his elder brother Manny, the 24-year-old Pacquiao was advised not to sign any other contract with anyone especially right after his last fight unless he is beside a lawyer or a trusted friend.

It is common knowledge that boxers are some of the most abused and exploited people in the sporting world.

True, Manny offered to chart and help out with his own brother’s career but Bobby, who is now besieged by several offers, wants to think it over. He opted to go back to the Philippines and be with his wife and family than take a plane ticket to New York.
Now can you please STOP sending EMAILS and explain this in the open?

Actually, it was read a few thousand times. The views in the forum are just view counts of the posts, not the actual articles themselves.
