Comments Thread For: Universum's TV Deal; Collazo-Aydin; Erdei Update

Bild writes today that the long term TV deal between Universum and ZDF ends July 31. For the final show Universum plan to leave with EBU heavyweight champ Audley Harrison fighting Alexander Dimitrenko at the tennis stadium in Rothenbaum. Dimitrenko is mandatory challenger for Harrison. The EBU have set April 28 as deadline for purse bids or agreement - so itīs still open if Universumīs plan will stick. After July 31 itīs also still open on how Universum will function. There havenīt been announcements about a new TV deal though some rumors have pointed towards a deal with German SKY TV. Other rumors say Universum will concentrate on managing fighters and not promote shows.

Sauerland has struck a deal with TV2 Denmark meaning that professional boxing is back at last on public service terrestial television. Markussen coming back and promising Kim Poulsen and Patrick Nielsen are the major draws.

Normally Sauerland's events are transmitted by public service channel ARD. That's not the case when Mikkel Kessler is fighting due to that fight being PPV in Denmark and ARD has a significant 'overspill' in countries bordering Germany.

Last time however (Ward) it was shown on a 'local' station called MDR and it's possible that that will be the case again.

It's possible that the fight gets shown in other european countries though. Besides Britain, Poland, Czech Rep., hungary etc. are normally showing the big euro fights.

          Opinions on Nathan Cleverly?

Is he good enough to compete with Lightning Zsolt Erdei?

If that fights comes off for the EBU Light Heavyweight title it will likely end up being an elimination fight for the right to challenge the Dawson-Pascal winner for the WBC title.

Why is Aydin vs Collazo for the WBC title? I thought Berto was the WBC champ. They need to get this **** figured out. The WBA does the same ****. Shane Mosley is'nt even the champ anymore some russian has the title. WTF is going on. Don't they understand that that is key to building a fanbase. They need to have reliable rankings or else how is someone supposed to follow this sport?
