I've been hit in both situations. There's no difference.
there is a huge difference in being hit while defending and being hit while being defenceless. the punch you dont see does the most damage. you can see guys on the basketball court get hurt from a pick thet didnt see. so you know a punch from a pro fighter will do far more damage

Thanks for telling me that what I have personally experienced is not true.
I didn't get a chance to see the fight last night (any of them), i was looking foward to the replay today (DVR)...
I decided to jump on last night a little late to find out the results..
I saw words like Dirty fighter, Cheater, and Discrace...I had yet to see the punch until now. I don't know how hurt Dirrell was (I will not pretend to know either), but that punch should not have happened, but I also see how it could.
When I saw words like the ones stated above, and now seeing the punch, the same folks that used such words, also need to put Roy, Soto, and Margo (most will call him a discrace anyway) in that catagory as well...All have hit a man in the heat of the moment...And paid for it (except Margo of course, he was also in the heat of a combo)...Are they a discrace too?..A cheat? A dirty fighter? Please remember, I am only talking about that combo in reguards to Margo, nothing else...So keep the plaster stuff out of this...Thanks.
Anyway-
Uneeded punch, but in no way what folks made it out to be...IMHO.
I will not condeem AA for this.
Good win for Dirrell, to bad it ended that way.
my thing wasnt so much the fact that he hit him while he was done, **** happens in the ring and all u do is keep throwing somtimes. What pissed me off was the childlike manner in which he acted after the fight was over. At first he was convinced that he hit dirrell while he was up not down, but once shown the evidence he had a choicce to make; take responsibility say he didnt realize the fighter was down and move on, or act like a complete child and pass off blame for what i did to the other guy. we know how that turned out. Thats the only reason i feel he lost a little cred but only from me. my opinion.
It doesn't matter, there's still no difference between being punched on the deck and being punched on your feet if the punch is clean and unblocked. You're more likely to get hit with a clean unblocked punch on the ground, but Dirrell had been hit with clean unblocked punches harder than that when on his feet and managed to continue.
There isn't some magical reason why you are more vulnerable on the ground than on your feet you know.
