Comments Thread For: Team Povetkin Await Wladimir Klitschko's Decision

The manager of the official IBF heavyweight title contender Alexander Povetkin, Wladimir Hryunov, assumes that WBO/IBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko may have a voluntary defense before the fight with the Russian. At the same time, it’s possible the Povetkin-Klitschko bout will take place in Moscow. [Click Here To Read More]

I thought Wlad had to fight Povetkin next since he's a mandatory, but now Povetkin manager says Wlad can have a voluntary defense first, WTF?

Hopfully Wladimir will fight Povetkin in the summer. Haye will not be ready for awhile.

Klits gonna wait on the Haye fight before he makes a desision, if Haye wins then him and Vlad will have to flip a coin, one gets Haye the other gets Povetkin, apart from them 4 there is no one in HW, maybe Ademek if he wins the war with Areolla

This is it.. Povetkin vs. Klitschko isn't far away now. Povetkin is the toughest opponent Klitschko has faced in a long time, and probably the only heavyweight capable of winning a UD over either Klitschko brother.

I think Povetkin is tailor-made for Wlad.

Haye however might be dangerous in the first few rounds, before he is weakened by Wlad's jab.

Wlad wants to fight Povetkin next. Both Emmanuel Steward and Wlad have indicated that Povetkin doesn't want the fight, and reading this I'd have to agree. Why suggest taking a voluntary first? They are buying time and aren't ready.

Well it seems Povetkin's manager would rather Wlad fight someone else first while Povetkin gets another fight in before he gets ready for Wlad..(Hint).

I agree. Povetkin is - despite two years of delay - not yet ready for a Klitschko. He is too open, not tall enough to compete, and brings not enough power/pressure to make Wlad panic or falter. Sasha has the raw skills to be there in 2-3 years, but not yet. But time is not on his side- he's 30 already.

And I agree on Haye, too. He is dangerous with his speed and power, until he eats a few dozen jabs. Then, he'll tire and enter survival mode or quit. Or he goes for the Hayemaker-KO (TM) and gets KOd by Wlads counter. But the fight would probably be very boring - Wlad will fight even more reluctant, 'cause he knows Haye might pull off the "Sanders".
