Comments Thread For: Alexander vs. Maidana/Cayo winner on tap for July?

According to sources, if a proposed bout with Zab Judah falls through, then HBO is looking to match WBC/IBF junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander versus the winner of the March 27th bout between Marcos Maidana and Victor Cayo. HBO is holding a July date for Alexander.

He looked vulnerable against Urango to me. If Urango had the speed to close the distance it wouldve been a different fight. He should beat Cayo and Maidana they hit hard but arent fast.

Figures. Though I think he'll end up fighting Judah, and that this might be a scare tactic to make Judah and perhaps Alexander more compliant in the negotiations to get the fight signed, I'm sure that HBO will use Bradley and Alexander to clear away the more dangerous junior welterweights to make it easier for the real potential stars in Ortiz and Khan. Then they'll wipe each other out, and Ortiz or Khan will face the winner.

this definitely makes khan look bad. he should have just fought maidana, so people cannot label him as a ducker.

alexander will do all khan's work for him, then khan will run off to 147 w/o fighting any mandatories.

This is sad. I would like to know how much Maidaina was paid to relinquish his mandatory rights. He had a puncher's chance against Khan but there is no way he is getting past Alexander.
