      No way Chavez is overated.

Yes he went downhill pretty quick (even though still able to hold his own) but in his prime he was the best.
No way Whitaker could have beaten a prime Chavez and yes he lost that ugly ass fight against him but by that time Chavez was not taking boxing seriously anymore.
Whitaker was a masterful tactician, but his run and duck style was so freaking boring. Also let me point out that he got a gift when he fought Maromero Paez and Paez didn't even take him seriously (of course he didn't take anybody seriously).

The only thing that bothered a lot of people, Mexican mainly was that Chavez started acting like an ass after the Whitaker and Randall fights but who knows what was in the guys mind. He seems ok now, so hopefuly he took care of his inner demons.

Whitaker wasnt exactly in his prime either when he fought Chavez.. You can spin it either way you want but a prime Chavez wins 2 to 3 rounds against a prime Whitaker at best!

Funny you noticed he was acting like a little snob for a while.

I think Whitiker was a master boxer. I'm not sure Chavez could have beaten him at any weight, but when he did fight Pea, he certainly was on the down side. Either way, both were great in their own right.
Whitiker was boring as hell, but was untouchable in prime.

and he hates mexican fighters so his opinion is biasided too.
              so what do you think???
              is Julio Cesar Chavez overrated???
and how good do you think he really was???
Hes prob not as great as was presumed when he was at the top of his game,i mean he was like this unstoppable mythic hero for mex fans,But he deserves to be considered great nonetheless,he beat some great fighters.

Hey dude nice insult!! If you think Chavez would beat Whitaker in their' respective primes you are beyond help!! Don't disrespect a legend by hugging his nuts, he doesnt need that.. His record speaks for itself. He just didnt have the style to beat Sweet Pea.no shame in that!

No insult intended man, but to say the he would only win 2 to 3 rounds is just plain dumb and to be honest I didn't even like Chavez that much nearing the end of his career but a prime Chavez fight was like a complete clinic on how to break down any opponent.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Did you know Pea Pea lost to Jose Luis Ramirez in his prime?
Did you know that Ramirez and Chavez are compadres and Chavez was much better in his prime than Ramirez so counting out that Chavez could not beat Pea Pea in his prime is ****ing absurd!
