According to the post on Yahoo-Japan, WBC bantamweight champion Hozumi Hasegawa will face WBO champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel on April 29th in Tokyo, Japan.
Montiel defended his title successfully for the first time only days ago when he stopped the previously undefeated Ciso Morales in the first round.
Soon after that bout, Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions, stated that he already had come to an agreement with the representatives of Hasegawa for the bout.
This will be Hasegawa’s eleventh defense of his title but despite both fighters holding belts, it will not be a unification bout since the Japanese Boxing Commission does not recognize the WBO as an official sanctioning body. Japan only recognized the WBC and the WBA as official sanctioning organizations
