By Cliff Rold - After spending most of 2009 on the shelf due to a staph infection in his hand, 27-year old World Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik (36-1, 32 KO) made his first start since February a successful one in his hometown, dropping 29-year old Miguel Espino (20-3-1, 9 KO) of North Hollywood, California, three times en route to a fifth round stoppage at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
Pavlik weighed in for the contest right at the Middleweight limit of 160 lbs., Espino a pound below at 159.
