Call it stereotyping but the woman's place in a Latin American country isnt the same as in an Anglo countries. The way an adult is respected in the Latin American and affiliation towards family isnt the same as in the individualistic Anglo countries.Low power distance in the Anglo countries mean inequality is not accepted whereas in the latin American countries there is high power distance.Inequality is expected that's why Cotto could not understand why this woman was turning away her employer and a world champion. He expected everyone to jump to his ****.This is science,i.e backed by imperical evidence, should you want bibliography please holla.
Similar enough for sexual harassment to be a crime apparently......so if he did it citing these so called stark cultural differences doesn't excuse his behavior.

So where do we draw the line then for what is minor or major enough for leniency? Doesn't he get enough perks making insane amount of money for his job......and actually alot of free time where he can do nothing? why does he need more special treatment?

You're a disgrace as a person and a man. If you aren't ashamed of yourself you should be. Peace.
You seem like a fairly intolerant person. The legal principles you condem has been applied in the vast majority of civilisations throughout the world and history. From your reasoning it follows that the Romans, the Mayans, the great Greek and Japanse civilizations all would be "total morons". I find it sad that you a so enclosed within your own mental horizons but i still enjoyed or discussion. Peace.

I will write this again. In matters of law you have to look at things objectively from societys point of view. Personal feelings has no place in it and should not be considered when making decisions. What i would feel in such and such hypothetical situation is totally irrelevant from a juridical perspective, do you think we should legislate based on personal feelings?
The rich and famous have a good enough life as it is without them being above the law.

It would most likely be a questions for experts but maybe this definition is a good place to start?

Yes thoose are good perks which he has deserved with his sweat and blood. My point is: If his money is taken from him through legal processes what does he have left? Alot of free time? The courts should show leniency. He has taken severe beatings and put in enourmos amounts of effort to get that money. It should not be robbed from him. At least he deserves a second chance.

Robbed from him? He was making that woman's life a misery because she didn't want to **** him and then he fired her, she deserves every penny she can get from him.

I hope you are getting me right.I'm not condoning Cotto's behaviour, what he did is wrong de****able and abhorrent. My point however is against the one size fits all way of looking at things.I'm just trying to make people see things the way Cotto sees things,in the context of his culture. It is easy to judge someone using our own culture but he should be judged using Puerto Rican standards.
