At the Houston Club in downtown Houston, Texas, ring veteran and Colombian native Juan Carlos Candelo (29-10-4, 20 KOs) emphatically defeated popular local club fighter Chase "White Tiger" Shields. Shields (29-3-1, 14 KOs) started the fight well, taking the first two rounds and scoring a knockdown in the 3rd round with a punch to Candelo's temple which dropped him in ugly fashion. Once he recovered his equilibrium, Candelo took over the rest of the third round and the rest of the fight battering Shields through the 5th, 6th and 7th stanzas culminating in a seventh round knockdown.
