Comments Thread For: Green vs Mundine Feud Continues; Danny Claims Revenge

Since Anthony Mundine won a twelve round decision over Danny Green in 2006, the two fighters have traded verbal shots inside and outside of the ring. The first fight was regarded as the biggest and richest fight in Australian boxing history. This past Tuesday, Green's bout with Roy Jones Jr. may have broken the 2006 mark. [Click Here To Read More]

wait hold up. "when u beat a legend u become a legend?" is this guy smoking crack or something. take nothing away from danny green but roy jones has not been roy jones for quite some time now. for him to make a statement like that its like saying kevin mccbride is a legend cos he beat a faded mike tyson.

Australia has been way to enthusiastic about his win.

          re.. Greens comments

After reading greens comments "beating a legend you become a legend" "i've beaten the best in the world" ETC. You've lost me Danny Green, you are now talking as much crap as Mundine, maybe more. But i dont think that is possible..

ps.. I backed green on betfair to win the fight.

The Australian commentators were saying that after the 1st knockdown "if you beat a legend, you become a legend" So on that basis, Kevin McBride is a first ballot Hall Of Famer. I watched the fight expecting to see a devastating knockout but it was really a 1 (unintentional) rabbit punch wobble job, was a crap fight and stoppage. Roy has been done for a long time, a fight with Bernard would've been a mistake. Please just give it up Roy.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the whole "you beat a legend, you become a legend" thing come from Bernard Hopkins?

I figured the commentators and Australian media were just running with that ****. There was even a write up in one of the local Sydney papers about Bernard saying that recently. In any event, the mainevent boxing commentary team are absolute garbage.

Also, keep in mind he is probably referring to Australian boxing when he talks about his 'legend' status. There is no doubt he will go down as an Aussie legend. I hardly think Green is so delusional to think he is one of the sport's all time greats.

I agree, and I live in Australia too. I saw Ten's news coverage, and Green said and I quote "I think Bernard just pooped his pants when he saw that." I thought to myself, you must be joking son. I think Green will have a rude awakening when he faces Hopkins and gets his ass whooped, then he can forget about a possible fight with Holyfield, who the **** does he think he is, superman? You going jump multiple weight classes just because you beat someone who is way past his prime?

The color commentary on the Green/Jones fight was absolutely hilarious.

                    Some hilarious quotes:

"Look out Bernard Hopkins! Here comes Danny Green!"

"I wanna see Danny Green do that to Bernard Hopkins. I wanna see him do that in the United States and start putting these old man out to pasture."

"He knocked out Roy Jones, Jr. out like nobody else has."
