WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan claims to have his entire focus on mandatory challenger Dmitriy Salita. Khan defends the title against Salita on Saturday in Newcastle. The media has been blasting Khan over his multiple comments where he talks about future fights with Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and several others. Many are under the impression that Khan is not taking Salita serious enough - and spends too much of his time thinking about future fights. [Click Here To Read More]

Khan is young, so he got knocked out, big deal, he also easily outboxed a top 10 junior welterweight. you're allowed to hit speed bumps in your career when you turn pro at 18. Pac got KO a couple times when he was young, not saying he is even close to manny but when you start pro boxing at such a young age, fighting against good opponents, i think its okay, if anything he probably learned a lot from it. Way too many Khan haters, he has a lot of talent and he's not a pusssy. So many fighters fight chumps until they are like 28 , fighting pro for 5+ years, he's out there getting in the ring with some decent talent. Not saying he wont be a tomato one day, but its way too earlier to be making calls like that. The guy could have loads of pro experience by the time he is 25, which most boxers cant say.
Not only has Khan ducked and dived his way through stern oppostion thus far, but he continues to duck any relevant threat in his path. With his glass jaw intact, this could possibly be his only choice. So lets not get carried away by informing the boxing pundit that ''he's out there getting in the ring with some decent talent''. A far smaller, and dare I say 'washed up' Barerra who could not see, simply doesn't count. Gomez and Limond did enough to expose Khan's chin. Lets see how this young man takes a flush shot from a legitimate puncher.
Time will tell.

I must disagree that it's too early for people ''to be ripping on him''. I'm assuming the reason that the boxing public dislike him, stems from his arrogance. For a young fighter such as Khan to be engaging in such bragging and bravado, is enough reason to take off your shoe and aim it in the viscinity of the Khan ego. He has fought a long list of less than stiff competition, and even then, he's very nearly failed on several of those occasions. That's not even taking into consideration the pasting that Prescott handed him.
I also don't agree that ''every top prospect' dodges top competition. That is a generalisation, and a false one at that. In my humble opinion, that is one of the central reasons why boxing as a sport is taking a nose dive for the worst. There are fighters who face top tier opposition, and those are the men who will be remembered. Mayweather and Khan will most certainly be remembered for ducking and diving, rather than facing the best. Of course, as you pointed out, ''time will tell''. Lets hope that it tells a story that we would all like to tell our Grandkids.
