Small vs McDonagh Stinks Out The Joint in Wigan

Heroes and villains. There are those who can do no wrong, those who are buoyed by the chants of their name no matter where they fight. Yet boxing is also full of characters that attempt to walk the tightrope between pantomime villain and downright disliked, in order to change a fight from a show, to an event. This group of fighters can be broken down further into those that do it well and those that don’t. Some of the greatest fighters to have ever laced up gloves revelled in playing the bad guy and they did it well. And others couldn’t quite pull it off. Floyd Mayweather Jr would be the most obvious pantomime villain in boxing today, with a wink, a smile and a knowing nod he raises jeers from the crowd, some pay to take a chance on him losing, others pay to see mastery over the sweet science. Most understand the role he must play to create a spectacle and an event. [details]

Small is entertaining to watch, he's kind of comical like naz used to be with the fancy ring entrances and clowning around.... and he's a good fighter too.

how can you say he looks world class he didnt look that good in the hall fight up until the ref jumped and told them to get to work, it was embarassing last night really embarrassing a mean coming out in a kids scooter WTF! and than then not throwing no punches until the finial rounds when the other guy was knackered even then they were hayemakers that even valuev could slip no boxing skills shown last night at all on that performance jamie moore and rhodes would smash him, he can look good against the right opponent, then did you hear him in the post fight interview he actually fought he did well and was defending that performance it was extremely fustrating to watch, he needs to have a long hard look at himself!

I think he has difficulties when he has a boxer opposite him who has some control of range and can throw straight punches. You can disrupt his offense with either carefully timed jabs, staying on the move and keeping just out of range, or exploiting his lack of inside game by smothering and spoiling.

For these reasons I think Rhodes will beat him. Only way Small wins that one is if Rhodes for some reason settles in the middle distance and tries to trade. I'll be rooting for Small all the way though, he's an entertaining dude and when he lets his hands go he can be pretty vicious.
