Cotto Just Can't Win the Big One...The Story of his Career.

Man, I can only imagine the Cotto fans right now lol. I'm only pissed because I lost some money, but that's the name of the game.

The one thing that really surprised me was how Cotto came into the fight physically. He didn't have no size advantage like I thought he would while Manny was looking like a legit Welterweight and was able to take Cotto's shots (not his best shots, but nonetheless...) I think Cotto got gun shy after that hook Manny landed in the 4th that dropped him and was noticeably tired by the 6th round. It looked like he had no set game plan and Pacquiao was just throwing so many punches while Cotto kept flicking the jab without it affecting Manny at all.

I think Cotto needs to re-evaluate his career and really consider what else he can do in the sport. He's been on the big stage twice and has come up short both times in devastating fashion. I think his heart is bigger than his toolbox at the end of the day.

Cong**** to Manny for a big win. In my eyes he's the fighter of the decade hands down.

Cotto came up big against Mosely and just edged Clottey so it's not as if he's been blown out against every good fighter he has faced. He has some exceptional wins.

Also, I am 100% convinced that Margarito was using his plaster pads in that fight so I find it harder to accept that as a legitimate loss for Cotto. Still, the story here is not Cotto looses his big fights - it's Pacquaio wins his.

Cotto won some great fights, especially fight with Mosley.

He came up short against ATG Pacquiao, and Margacheato (and who knows if that is legit loss). No shame in that.

He loses to the p4p number 1 fighter; a man who has won 7 titles in 7 different weight classes, 4 of which were lineal championships, and all of a sudden he should assess whether he should box anymore? What?

All of a sudden we're forgetting he hs wins over Mosley, Judah, Quintana, Malignaggi, Torres, Clottey etc, and before last night his only loss was to a man many deemed an unstoppable force and more than likely was using loaded gloves.

        I don't get it.

He has only had one big shot and he failed but I wouldn't say he can't win the big one. Beating Mosley was equal to the Margarito loss, both were pretty big fights so I would have to disagree. If we are just talking about super big fights I think it's unfair since he's only had one shot at it.

You gotta consider though the beatings he's taken in his last 3 big fights (Margarito, Clottey, Pacquiao). Not a lot of fighters take that type of punishment and rise back to the top of the sport (let alone the division). Mosley and Judah were big wins for him, but Vegas is THE stage to show and prove and he's come up short twice. Yea, the Margarito fight will always be up for debate, but you can't erase the beating Cotto took in the fight either.

Truthfully, I don't know how much left Cotto's got. I got love for the dude, but would hate to see him just become a gate keeper of the division because there is no doubt that aura he once had about him is completely gone.

The loss to Pacquiao is nothing to be ashamed of for Cotto. He was in there with a guy he simply could not compete with. Cotto is still plenty capable of beating every other welter in the world.
