..TRUE or FALE: Miguel Cotto Will Have To Rebuild His Career If He Loses...

Now, this might seem like a simple enough one. Every fighter has to rebuild after a major loss. Right?

    Not always the case.

Marquez doesn't really need to rebuild after his loss to Mayweather. He just has to win and move on with his career. There's a bit of a difference.

So, I ask you the question and now I also ask you to explain yourself?

I think it depends on how he loses. If he loses by competitive decision or something like that then I think he can move on without rebuilding too much but if he suffers a knockout, then I think he would have to reevaluate his team and rebuild.

There's other fights out there like Margarito who's actually now looking to rebuild his career. Then you have Berto who is undefeated and beating Cotto would look nice on his resume so it would be tempting for him to take the fight. You have Cintron who also needs to work on his resume. Then there's a Mosley rematch. Don't forget depending on how he loses to Pacquiao a rematch can be made. But if does he loses to Pac then maybe he should hang them up. Which he wont cause he's hungry and ready for war.

Depends on the manner of his loss. If he goes 12 and looks competetive all the way through I think he'll take one gimme and then another top welter contender and be back again.

If he loses loses by KO then i'll be doubting to watch any of Cotto's fights again but if he loses only by decision, surely i'll still watch him fight.

I'm speaking here as a casual fan, btw.

                Losing is not an option

Cotto has to win this fight. There is no other option. Cotto believes himself to be the top welterweight in the division-not Mosley, not Mayweather, not Margarito. I personally feel that the Margarito loss crushed him psychologically, not physically.

He could not understand how he lost. That Margarito got caught trying to load his gloves has given him some peace, but there is no taking back the damage done to his reputation. If Cotto had won the Margarito fight, we wouldn't even fathom the possibility of a Pacquiao win. Truth be told for 6 solid rounds Cotto put on a boxing clinic, and if he had decisioned Margarito convincingly, even if he had tired a bit at the end, the betting odds between him and Pacquiao wouldn't be what they are today. We would all say that Cotto showed superb boxing skill and beat a bigger man...there is no way Pacquiao- excellent fighter that he is-will beat the stronger, heavy handed fighter that is Cotto.

But that didn't happen. And everbody has doubts. Even I do, and I am a die hard Cotto fan. What I don't doubt is that Cotto will bring everything he has to bear for this fight. There will be no bull**** shortcuts with the conditioning, every detail will be attended to. He knows that Nov. 14th will make or break him. Beating Pacquiao will not be enough. He wants to "beat" Pacquiao. This will be Cotto's way of extending a huge middle finger to everyone who even dared thought that a guy like Pacquiao (excellent figher that he is) could be a true physical challenge for a guy like Cotto, a boxer who fights guys that could be middleweights.

There are only two options in Cotto's mind for Nov. 14- Pacquiao will taste the mat for 10 seconds and not get up, or Cotto will win by decision and Pacquiao will leave the ring with the type of facial damage that Malignaggi remembers all too well. However, a get by win is not an option. Losing is not an option. Not for Cotto, not this time.

I really wish it was how u say,but in regard to Marquez,it's almost like they straight scapegoated him in favor of floyd!!!I mean Marquez was world class & # 2 pfp, when he losses to the bigger, stronger, faster floyd who didn't even make weight,Marquez drops down & floyd is #2 pfp & the 2nd best welterweight with no credentials to prove it!!By the way, which part of Washington are u from,or at??
