Evander Holyfield to Fight Botha; Shot at Vitali Klitschko Looms

Although his Nov. 8 bout slated for Jeju Island, South Korea, was canceled, 47-year-old former four-time champion, Evander Holyfield, could fight South African, Francois Botha, on Dec. 19, in Uganda. A good showing in the Botha fight could also lead to a possible title shot at WBC champion, Vitali Klitschko, Holyfield's manager, Ken Sanders, told FanHouse on Tuesday.

"We do this fight in December, then I'd say in February or March, we could have a championship fight with the WBC's Vitali Klitschko," said Sanders, whose contention is supported by comments made by WBC president, Jose Sulaiman.

This fight would mean something........in 1998. But aren't Ray Austin and Maskaev supposed to fight for the shot at big brother?

Whats up with all 4 of them? None of them can beat the klitschko brothers or even come close to it. When the **** are we going to see chambers, povetkin, solis, or someone like that fight the klitschkos? I guess its a nice keep busy fight for the brothers but I'd like to see the other top fighters fight them instead of these old sucky guys. And Wlad already embarrassed Austin.

I did hear the WBC say something about this potential fight.......

          'We want Holyfield dead.'

Someones going to need to physically restrain Evander from getting into the ring with Klitschko if that fight ever happens. Would be absolutely horrible.

Maybe he will finally realize its time for retirement, I think he is just looking for a decent payday and he can definitely get that with one of the klitschkos. Though the klitschkos have to go in for the kill or be embarrassed in history books if they let an old past it Holyfield go the distance with either of them.

It's a sad fact that so many boxers can't accept that their time is over and there is always that one more fight left, then another and another...a fight with Vitali would be so bad for Evander...someone would have to stop him from climbing in to get beaten by Vitali, but there will be no telling him...plus his financial issues will make it all the more sadly tempting for him to do so...I hope Vitali will object if this is to be made a mandatory by the WBC.

it shows how desperate Holyfield is for dollars if he's prepared to go to Uganda a week before xmas to fight.

How can a 47 year old shot fighter, who hasn't had a win since 2007 be considered for a title shot?
And four time champ... he's only really two time champ isn't he really?
