Comments Thread For: Daniel Dubois survives another brush with the microphone and insists he's 'dialled in' for Fabio Wardley
Fight weeks are never the easiest for Daniel Dubois though this one, as people have poked fun at his intelligence, has seemed particularly cruel, writes Matt Christie

To be fair to Dubois, the DAZN interview I saw him walk out of was embarrassing. The interviewer was a moron, more power to Dubois for not putting up with that rubbish.
The author says of Dubois, "he’s not the most intelligent man in the room".
Based on what? Because he doesn't like being in the spotlight of interviews? Doesn't like public speaking? Well, neither do I and I'm a genius.
That's an unfair dig at the man. I don't think the author has any valid way to determine Dubois's intelligence level. And before anybody starts donkey-braying, judgment and intelligence are not the same attributes.
I don't think you can get to the highest level of fights in boxing without some kind of intelligence. That goes for the ring IQ as well. You notice, most of the higher up fighters have a higher level of intelligence than the ones that get blasted earlier on as they're coming up. It's not just about physical gifts and training well, it's also about just being smart in the ring. Some folks may be highly physical and train like a work horse, but when the fight goes down, they got ktfo because they make ****** decisions in the ring.
Dubois has fought Usyk twice where some people think he may have earned a KO win against him. He's knocked AJ out hard. I mean, what does that say about AJ then? Low intelligence for trading with a big puncher?

Author wants more social media boxers a la Garcia & Paul. I liked it more when promotors talked and fighters fought. Nowadays, even so called hardcore and knowledgeable fans make references to boxers personalities like it's a freaking dating game?!

Some writers said the same thing about Smokin Joe but there was no computers or " social " writers to be read at the time. Its about inside the ropes not about outside noise............
Once someone says it people look for it, i dont follow enough noise to even know but now this guy this writer decided to point towards it what a waste ...............of ink...........
I can't speak to Dubois' intelligence, but he is certainly not particularly articulate. Regardless, though, it's harsh to have people critcise him for it when he has been open about how much he dislikes interviews, feels uncomfortable talking in front of the camera... and yet fulfills his media obligations regardless. You'd think there'd be a bit more appreciation for him giving his time to talk to the press and opening up about this vulnerability. There is something churlish about then criticising him for it.
Anyway, quite looking forward to the actual fight.
“purely because he’s not the most intelligent man in the room.” What a hack journalism line. Is the author in Mensa? What qualifies him to make this statement? Site is really circling the drain last 6 months or so

Reading that was an instant clinch. Being quiet, shy, reticent to verbalize, might be a sign of wisdom, which the authors ego dismissed.
That said, I like Dubois, I want him to win sort of. But I don't know if he's got the nuts to compete with Wardley when it comes down to a slugfest. I've seen him set traps and he's gotta do it to catch Wardley,He's gotta box him in deeper waters, But Wardley is just brutal and my moneys on a beatdown rather than anything else I love this fight. Go Dubois, but hope Wardley wins me some money.

Yep. The difference between a journalist and a hack. A journalist punches up, a hack punches down.
