Comments Thread For: Xander Zayas says he isn?t interested in career timelines ? just legacy

Xander Zayas is considered by many to be taking a risk in a fight with Jaron Ennis at this young stage of his career. As far as Zayas is concerned, that's the point.

        All the important players??
You mean self important self proclaimed (not so) important players who have gotten so used to making a generation of least risk most reward melts to protect theyre own investments & who helped create sides of the street blocking fights.
Eddie is projecting he would have milked with Zayas fighting cans & old men.
All the greats we do remember took risks & boxed the best across theyre careers. I hope we remember Zayas.

Love this attitude from Zayas!! Boxing needs more risk-takers. Even if Zayas loses, he has earned my respect by stepping up to fight Ennis. More boxers need to take note. Stuff like that earns you more fans, and more money down the road.

So few fighters have done this over the years, fight the best competition available with no drama. Porter and Froch were two fighters that would not hide behind negotiations and fight the top guys in their division.

...because Zayas is 23 and still near the beginning of his prime. There are many who are questioning why TR allowed Zayas to take this fight. However, I believe that being a champion comes with responsibility, and Zayas is behaving how a champion should. Just like young Vargas did when he fought a more experienced Trinidad. If Zayas loses and gets his ass kicked, so be it.

and what is ortiz doing? trying to get out of his contract while at the same time trying to fool his fans he wanted the fight, is there any other way to see how that played out?
