lol. President in feelings. That was a fun show. Great fights but one
You're correct but we'll no doubt get all the boxing promoter fangirls in here complaining that we're getting more competitive boxing fights than we were in recent years. I guess they want to watch fights marinate and watch the "Promoter Soap Opera Wars" instead of watching actual boxers fight in the ring.
I watched this fight and the commentating was extremely cringy with the way they were trying to NOT talk about the belts that have been legitimate for decades, only bringing up the Ring belt and the "inaugural" Zuffa belt. Honestly, I found it insulting to real boxing fans. Who do they think their audience is? Newbies? Totally shameless. I get that they're promoting Zuffa who doesn't want to recognize other belts. But they (especially Max Kellerman) went above and beyond in trying to gaslight us. They could have been honest about the situation and worked to explain what Zuffa is trying to do, but they went about it terribly. Wow, the Zuffa Cruiserweight Championship! Wasn't this the first ever Cruiserweight fight on Zuffa? F'king s t u p i d.
And Max's response to Jai after the fight was pathetic when Jai said his goal was still to become undisputed and Max was like "you already are undisputed." I get there are probably too many belts as-is and there are and have been undeserving "champions" (like William Scull), but to say that Zurdo isn't a legitimate threat to Jai is ludicrous. Jai has NOT nearly cleaned out the Cruiserweight division. He beat ONE legitimate guy (albeit twice) in Mairis Briedis and he retired shortly thereafter. And I like Jai and he probably is the best Cruiserweight. But if Benavidez puts a whooping on Zurdo or the other way around, then Jai being #1 isn't a done deal.
Max and crew brought up the other belts - as well as Zurdo and Benavidez - after the fight was over, but too little too late.
Opetai always claims he wants the belts but never mentions the other champions. I dont recall him ever being in negotiation to fight any of the other beltholders. Nothing failed, stalled or signed.
there were some fights on Sunday Night, some drew me in but they were not stepping stones to anything up coming inside the ropes. i dont hate Zuff they are putting some fights out there better then nothing. All the belt talk is kinda like rich kids trying not to get shown up or phonies telling lies on other phonies. Glatton went the distance which many thought would never happen. Jai got paid well.............sound familar ? Another promo boy got loud and talked beyound what he could really deliver all sounds about the same as it ever was...........This card like many will be forgotten soon enough.......but it was a fight card and boxing is easy to watch easier then talking about it.........
