Top-flight middleweights lock horns when former champion Sean Strickland faces the surging Anthony Hernandez in the five-round headliner, while Fortis MMA’s Geoff Neal puts fellow Dana White’s Contender Series graduate Uros Medic in the three-round welterweight co-main event at 170 pounds.
Strickland, 34, has posted four wins over his past six outings. However, he has not competed since he lost a five-round unanimous decision to Dricus Du Plessis in a failed bid to recapture the undisputed middleweight crown at UFC 312 more than a year ago. Strickland holds a 16-7 record in the UFC, his run in the promotion highlighted by victories over Israel Adesanya, Nassourdine Imavov, Paulo Costa and Brendan Allen. Hernandez, meanwhile, finds himself on an eight-fight winning streak. The 32-year-old MMA Gold Fight Team rep last saw action at UFC on ESPN 72, where he dispatched Roman Dolidze with a rear-naked choke in the fourth round of their Aug. 9 confrontation. Hernandez has delivered 12 of his 15 professional victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Among those weighing in were the headliners, former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland (29-7 MMA, 16-7 UFC) and surging contender Anthony Hernandez (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC), who meet in a potential title eliminator scheduled for five rounds.
