I like your optimism, Eric. Really hoping this division comes alive this year.

ALL of these names against each other is compelling. There isn't a fight I WOULDN'T want to see between all these guys.

154 was also a lot of fun when all of these guys were mixing it up on the reg: Jermall, Jermell, Castano, Hurd, J-Rock, Harrison, Trout, Lara, Rosario, Lubin, etc.

"....and you can talk yourself into the 37-year-old Thurman, who still does have only one loss on his record after 33 fights, being the best opponent “The Towering Inferno” has faced yet."

Only if you are suffering from pathologically loquaciousness AND delusion. There is a difference between being the best name and the best opponent.

Fundora's resume is actually looking worse as time marches on >

Essentially he has 4 names; Garcia, Lubin, Tszyu and Mendoza

          Since they fought Fundora,
Garcia has gone 2-2 and didn't fight in 2025.
Lubin has gone 3-1 but had a dodgy win over Ramos Jr. and got wiped out in 2 by Ortiz
Mendoza who beat Fundora has gone 1-2 including losses to Tszyu and Bohachuk (who has lost to Brandon Adams again and Ortiz)
and Tszyu has gone 2-2 but the 2 losses were devastating and the 2 wins insignificant.

Maybe Fundora is just messing them all up. Or maybe none were very good to start with or maybe 154 is super competitive. I prefer the latter and I suppose either Lubin or Tszyo have been Fundora's best opponent.

All that said. at the point when those 4 fought Fundora I'm pretty sure ALL of them would have beaten Thurman at that point in time.

154 has been a top division for the last ten years along with 140.

best division the last 10-12 years - pretty much Lara, Lubin and Harrison only ones still active - fighting with skills = Lara aids the longevity. Wonder who made the most money. Like that you missed out Canelo as he pretty much ducked them all apart from Lara.

Ortiz vs Ennis it's not happening. Virgil is a duck. Although Zayas looks like the most weak I give him credit because he has called everyone. Fundora didn't wanted any part of him and the duck make up all kind of excuses for not fighting him. Maybe they know something that we are missing. Ennis only wants to fight Virgil for the money and it's letting his best years slip by. He only has been given a gift belt and never has won one just like Ortiz. Zayas against the Britt is the only one that is probably going to happen if he accepts coming to the USA.

Gotta disagree with you here, SteveM. IMO, Thurman would have beaten ALL of those guys. AND he's gonna beat Fundora. No sarcasm here. I'm straight up serious.

You need to go back and look at the timeline. Canelo unified with Trout, lost his belt to Mayweather, and then fought non title fights with Angulo,Lara and Kirkland. He then moved to Middleweight and fought Cotto,Golovkin and Jacobs.Ducked 154 ? Benavidez at 168 of course he did. But accusing him of ducking at 154 is fake news.

I didn't include Canelo because he left the division (move to Middleweight) a couple of years before things got really good in the division, with all the guys I mentioned. There was a little crossover, of course (Trout/Lara) as you mentioned.
