I watched an interview with Hearn on this and my only concern was when he said that there were plenty of other options for Virgil or Boots if the fight couldn't be made. To me, depending on how you read it, it's like he's already conceding that the fight won't be made and they're looking into other $$$ options.
I've warmed up to Eddie over the last couple years and think he speaks truth, but you have to factor in that his mega cash cow AJ is coming to an end real soon. I know they've done financially well and with AJ gone, it's not the end, but you have to imagine, they'll need to budget things until they can develop the next megastar following AJ's departure from Matchroom.
That said, Boots is not the guy. He's not selling out arenas the way AJ was. Hearn has to look back to the UK to find the next AJ because if there is one thing about the UK, they come out in droves to support their man. Their fanbase is massive and the ability to sell out massive arenas for even a mediocre fight is incredible. You won't get that in the US as easily.
C'mon, Boots ain't fighting anyone mentioned in this article- Ortiz, Kelly and for sure Bakhram. Just look at Boot's history of opponents and anyone with a 5th grade diploma will tell you he'll be fighting tune ups until year 2030. Eddie won't continue offering mass amounts of complimentary tickets to see Boots and fill seats.
Its a shame puss in boots turned the fight down. Probably coulda had a rematch by now

It’s a shame Ortiz ran from 147 instead of fighting Boots who unified TWO belts.
It’s a shame Ortiz’s dream fight is the walking dead Spence AFTER calling Boots to the ring and saying he wants that fight next.
Good thing is there ain’t going to be no rematch after they fight. Just like there was no rematch with Bohachuk.

Would you say Thomas Dulorme was a great fight for Ortiz? Or was that a tune up? I mean fighting Dulorme THREE years after Boots had destroyed him means what exactly? A tune up?

Yes ortiz ran from 147, not like he was unhealthy or anything.
Yes booty got given a belt after Crawford vacated (another fight he ducked) then unified with a bum. Very impressive
Lmao. Ofc Bootsy has a fight lined up with KELLY but not bakhram.
1.No chance Kelly beats bakram
2.No chance Bootsy goes near bakram
3.Fast Eddie is praying barass somehow beats zayas cause Kelly and barass are the only fights they really want.
If it was any other way then this^ Eddie would say “we will unify our interim wba with the winner of Kelly vs bakram and you unify your interim WBC with fundora after he tunes up Thurman and we got ourselves a 3 belt ****er” but notice they only got a fight lined up with Kelly and they were already targeting barass before he signed to fight zayas. Just bum after bum after bum. Oregonian I see you arguing with everyone as usual going on on your Bootsy shield. Hate too see it
