Comments Thread For: Fabio Wardley has ?plenty of options? for first defence in April

It is not yet known who Fabio Wardley will box in the first defence of his WBO heavyweight title, but we do know he won?t be boxing Oleksandr Usyk, the one-time owner of that belt, anytime soon

There shouldn't be any email belts. When the champion loses his belt outside the ring for WHATEVER** reason then that belt should be fought for by 1st and 2nd highest ranked. Yes, there'd be some unappetising fights due to the self-inflicted poor rankings of the belt organisations themselves but at least the new champion would have dome something to earn it.

As it is now, the belt organisations are devaluing their own belts as we get a plethora of world-belt-holders who might otherwise never have gotten near a world belt.

** - the only exception might be a champion in recess who is there for injury reasons and not because they can't get their outside ring affairs in order.

"He obviously feels the risk to the reward isn’t justified." As if Udyk is scared of Wardley... The man is an icon, rich and famous, revered by boxing fans all over the world. He is getting old... He needs some sort of motivation. What does beating the blue collar ****er do for him? Nada.
