Two second rate promoters are failing to get the job done. Shouldn't be this difficult.

I'm glad to see that Murtazaliev has finally got a fight lined up. I'm curious to see if he's as good as Tszyu made him look by fighting like he was trying to commit suicide by gloves.

It's just a purse-bid announcement. The fight can still fall apart. Murtazaliev has already seen one purse-bid (vs. Lubin) lead to nothing. Let's see if either side actually bids something substantial. Sauerland has thrown 4 cards in 2025 and one upcoming, meanwhile Duva hasn't thrown one. Can't both sides scrounge up enough money for a title fight? Kelly may drop out of this purse bid because he's ranked with the WBC/WBO. If that happens, then Murtazaliev will have to move on to Callum Walsh. I don't think Walsh is ready for Murtazaliev, but maybe Dana White would pony up some money to make it happen.

I'm not sure the Kelly fight (if it does get made) will give us the answer to how good Murtazaliev is. Kelly seems like a carefully selected opponent who is expected to box with style for a few rounds before being broken down. We need to see Murtazaliev against Boots, Ortiz, or Fundora.

Murtazaliev didn't select Kelly. He was the next guy in line after Lubin dropped out. If Kelly drops out, then the next in line is Walsh. If Walsh declines, then Ennis is next. But Ennis now has the WBA interim belt, so I assume he'll be dropped from the IBF rankings.

I have my doubts about this fight. For one, I'm sure Kelly would rather get paid to take a beating from the WBC's Fundora or Ortiz or even take his chances with WBO's Xander Zayas. If Kathy cares about Murtazaliev she should either put up the money or let him go to the promoter that can.

Imagine getting the biggest win of your career against Tim Tszyu…and instead of building on that momentum you are inactive for an entire year.

How much does Murtazaliev pay for Kathy Duva’s services? Whatever the amount it is just money wasted.
