Big difference between Tarver and Forrest. Tarver beat a shot weight drained Jones Jr and Forrest beat a prime 38-0 Mosley and ruined his career. He went from 38-0 to 38-2-0-1 and really then lost to Dela Hoya before going 0-2 to Winky Wright. So he was really 38-5-0-1 from the Forrest loss. He ruined Mosley at world level. Forrest lost an upset to a then very dangerous and fit Ricardo Mayorga, a way better version that got ko’d by Trinidad, Oscar, Mosley and Cotto. I had Forrest edging the rematch with his jab and right hand. He then had a career ending shoulder surgery which kept him out for a couple years. When he came back he wasn’t the same, and he only lost to Sergio Mora because he struggled making weight that night. The rematch was easy. IMO he avenged all blemishes in his career. First ballot hall of famer.

I just wish Forrest had found a way to dominate the crude Mayorga. That one sticks with me. All the others beat Mayorga, but a faded one at that. It is what it isn't. Maybe HOF though.

I was at the garden for Mosley vs Forrest 1. And I had a good seat! I saw the uppercut that started it all. I also saw Shane get up and fight on for the rest of the fight. How he got up from the knockdown, is a wonder. It was clean and sharp. Vernon was a hard puncher. Even Mayorga said it to his trainer in the corner in between rounds.
I'll always remember one time Vernon walked by and I said what's up to him, and he gave me a hard look and kept it moving without saying anything back to me. But it didn't offend me, it made me smile, because I'm mean sometimes too lol

That was a nasty headbutt that Shane got the worst of.

It’s the fact he lost the rematch too. The first fight, you underestimate the guy, you get caught cold, it’s happened many times but to lose to him again, by decision, was almost unthinkable.

Always reminded me of Hearns and Barkley, sometimes some guy just has your number.

I think the fact it’s a posthumous HOF nomination will help his case. I wouldn’t be opposed to Forrest going in tbf. Very good fighter who still had a good fee fights in him when he was tragically murdered.

yeah there is a big difference...in favor of tarver. tarver beat the #2, 3 and 4 ranked fighters in the division: griffin, reggie johnson, harding, and then tarver went 2-1 against roy jones who is a much greater fighter than mosley, and yes roy wasnt prime but he was still on top, #1 and was not shot nor weight drained. did you forget the first jones tarver fight? jones won it and he had more time to prepare for the rematch. he just got caught with a huge shot and ko'd. credit to tarver. tarver then beat glen johnson and clinton woods after that who were top guys in the division. thats 6 top guys to forrests 1.
