Comments Thread For: As TKO takes to boxing?s major stage, is it here to step on the others' heads?

There are distinct impressions the new TKO boxing promotion is seeking to convey as it announces its arrival with a Netflix-streamed super-fight. Lance Pugmire explores how the company is being perceived as it enters the sport's big stage, and why some are concerned that they may try to shut out those who once opened the doors for them.

Lance, why did you even ask for accreditation when it's more than obvious that you can write hit pieces without having to be present anywhere?
When will these promoters realize that Zittel is just a PBC bootlicker?
Maybe Zittel should rather ask his PBC masters why they are supporting the Ali Act changes (Tom Brown's TGB is the only established promoter supporting Dana's proposed changes to the Ali Act), considering they're already operating as if there's no Ali Act.

TKO coming in strong but let’s see if they boost the game or just squeeze out the little guys. I had a picture of TKO trailer which i just open using cx file manager. You can use that too, it's pretty handful.

To be honest I could give a **** who is running boxing AS LONG AS we get the best fighting the best. For two long this has not been the case - peak Manny and Floyd, Stevenson-Kovalev, and much delayed GGG-Canelo and Beterbiev-Bivol ( Arum - Betrbiev can't fight Bivol because Bivol is Russian etc).
There's also the case that too many good fighters can't get fights in a timely manner - Brandon Adams has had a start again stop again career and now gets his 'bag' when he is 36.
Part of this is the way promoters have to build up a fighter with careful matchmaking to create the illusion of good fighters - Callum Walsh. Part is the Mayweather effect of protecting the zero which is not the case in the UFC or to a much lesser extent.

TKO is coming in and throwing their weight around by excluding Lance Pugmire, Mauricio Sulaiman, and pushing their fighter Callum Walsh as the co-main on a crappy undercard.

Right off the bat they are not looking not much different than Bob Arum or Al Haymon.

Maybe it's my age or maybe it's because I meditate, but I just can't get too animated about all this. These dramatic predictions about a "takeover" are about as credible as the monthly "boxing's dead" threads we get here.

Notice how it's mostly US-focused as well. America is not the world.

I don't know about the British boxing scene not being as vobrant - there were 80,000 fans at wembley for Joshua-Dubois last year. Then another massive crowd for Benn-Eubank jr.
Tonight we have Crocker vs Donovan in Belfast I believe - there'll be a medium sized lively crowd there. Whenever Billam Smith fought in Bournemouth it was well attended.

Most boxing insiders can see what Turkey is trying to do with the whole TKO thing.

Get rid of the Ali act , delegitimize the titles so they can make their own and pretty much monopolize most of boxing like they have it at the UFC.
