well that is nice now there will no corruption or deceit or PEDs or lousy match making and i really like how they talked about in this bill that they are going to make Boxing more available accessable and damn near free to fight fans no more PPV fights well no more then two a year, and the testing for fighters will be uniform and unrelenting, Match making will be done in an honest and fair manner, hype will be replaced with more respectable ....... the list goes on and on.....
I don't mind seeing a new promotion but my only gripe is that TKO will probably do fighters a disservice by mimicking the UFC model. UFC fighters risk their lives and they are seriously underpaid. It's why we had Francis at his later years switch over to boxing and Dana was pissed. But can you blame him? He was the top dog in the promotion but made more in two fights in boxing compared to his entire earnings in MMA. It's pathetic and sad and I blame those in charge. I'm putting away my biases and as a fan of the fight game, I respect anyone who dares to lace up their gloves to risk their lives for a livelihood and for my entertainment as a fan. They should be getting paid handsomely for their efforts. Yes, it's a team effort. They need a team to stage their fights, to promote it, and to broadcast it. But, at the end of the day, you can not minimize the individuals who are actively engaged in combat and risking their lives. I don't mind more promotions and opportunities for fighters and fans. What I don't like is that TKO will probably look to monopolize the game and will look to pay fighters crumbs.
Its not hard to work out what's happening: Dana was one of the guys who helped his buddy Don Trump get into the White House, now Trump will help Dana get this bill through. Its quite disgusting how the wheels of power work. Having said that, it depends what you want from the sport. Dana will make the fights the fans want but pay the boxers less. Other promoters pay the boxers a lot (sometimes too much) but steer big name fighters in their prime away from each other.
