Eddie the snake. Can see what has happened here. He said did not match the amount Smith wanted, yet the same offer Turki gave, he said Yarde accepted. Any Saudi check is bigger than any other he would get. He has just advised Smith to duck Benavidez as he would take an L. Instead they are probably thinking might be emailed a belt interim to full, as Bivols belts are being vacated 1 by 1. So if that happens he gets emailed a belt and then can demand a higher check as world champion and a unification. If Bivol Beterbiev winner does keep hold of WBO he can fight winner. But most likely they are hoping to hold out for a emailed belt

So Fast Eddie priced Smith out of a Benavidez fight and is now going to match him with a relative nobody whilst waiting for him to be emailed a title? Nice!

Either that or get him a fight with Bivol because he’s co-promoted by Slow Eddie
Win win for the dubious Slow Eddie

All these smarmy promoters - not just Hearn - jizz in their pants over alphabets stripping and intern belts etc. They love having like 7 champs in a division. They are as much the problem as the alphabet crime bosses

Personally, if these were my options, as the fighter or as the promoter I would also take this path.

1: Fight David now for X, or

2: get emailed a belt, then defend / unify vs David for X and then some. Option 2 sounds like a pretty smart move in my opinion.

and I HATE Eddie Hearn lol. But he’s doing right by Smith here. Money makes the world go round, and if you can get paid MORE you generally take that option. Now if he gets emailed the belt and DUCKS Benavidez (or tough fights all together) that’s when I will have an issue.

                  What if he gets stopped
That would be the end of the gravy train right there
He was at a crossroad fight with Buatsi

No it is as simple as Smith ducked. They could not make the fight in US or UK. They then went to Turki who has the biggest bag offer and they still rejected that. They had no interest in getting beat up by Benavidez just yet
