  • Comments Thread For: BoxingScene?s Midweek Mailbag: Can Crawford KO Canelo, plus more

In this week?s mailbag, we tackle your thoughts on whether Terence Crawford has the power or the ability to defeat Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez; how the impending arrival of Jaron ?Boots? Ennis at junior middleweight only increases the need for all the talent at 154lbs to mix it up; how Ennis? departure from 147 means Brian Norman Jnr is now the top dog at welterweight; and how Francisco Rodriguez Jnr and Galal Yafai looked in their flyweight battle last weekend.

Anybody can be hurt to the body. Crawford will be going upstairs and downstairs early and often. Can Canelo even pull the trigger anymore?

Let's be honest now Stephen “Breadman” Edwards is no different than me except he has the spot lite on him, but I have been around as a participant an as a historian of the sport. This will be a difficult fight for both fighters and Crawford looked like **** at 154 last time out so I hope it was just the opponent, he's facing a beast who is aged but still good! I do think Crawford being older hasn't shown his age as of yet, but you never know who's sparring with him to prepare for a Canelo 37 year old buddy Steven Nelson, GTFOH! I can see Crawford making Canelo tired if he's effective going to the body and his work rate remains high however Crawford can be hit and is slick but not a runner so how will that work against the bigger stronger puncher in Canelo. Canelo is composed and don't just offer loads of countering opportunities like others is another detail that could come into play so what adjustments could Crawford make to overcome this! I want Crawford to win, but it's a long shot if Canelo hasn't declined a great deal but it can happen if Crawford on his A game all night.

Canelo needs to set to land. Bud does not. That's a huge deficit right off the bat for Canelo. I doubt Crawford seriously hurts him to the head, but don't be surprised if Bud hurts him to the body. And then there's the reach advantage.

Canelo has a good chin and he rarely gets hit with a shot he doesn't see. But I also predict Crawford investing to the body when he can. I wouldn't be surprised if he forces Canelo to take a knee after a shot to the liver. Bud has the meanness to work that punch against a powerful opponent.

“Norman is the type of fighter the modern era needs: a capable champion willing to test himself against the best.”

He wasn’t willing to face the best, he ducked Boots Ennis even with an offer of $1.7 million on the table.
