Comments Thread For: Canelo-Crawford won?t make, break, kill, or save boxing ? but it matters more now

This is not make or break for an entire sport, but it could prove an impactful inflection point, writes Eric Raskin.

Dud? Because Mayweather beat Pacquaio wide, does not mean it was a dud. I imagine it would not have been a dud had Pacquaio won in the same manner as TBE won? Mayweather was superb, Pac had a couple of great rounds 4 and 6, and it was a good fight and a TBE Masterclass. Nash out - His Majesty

It's a business event and Canelo has hired Bud who will be polite. Canelo is pleased with the situation now, earlier he was afraid of Crawford and how it wouldn't earn him any credit. Canelo is singing a new song now and the reason has to be he knows Bud will be polite in the fight (play soft for the mega payday). It's going to be another boring Canelo sparring session, nobody gets hurt, just picking shots and trying to make it look real.

It won't save or kill boxing, but it may well put boxing fans to sleep. Dare I says it? Yes, this really could be a snoozer, with Crawford being overly cautious like he was against Madrimov, can Canelo being Canelo, bit lazy and self-indulgent.

There's no sport that compares to boxing for excitement and drama.

Of course, one gets great matches in tennis, soccer, cricket, rugby, american football, mma and excitement even in golf. But boxing, just different, very dangerous and enthralling.

All Canelo fights look suspect and he makes too much money for too many people to risk having him lose. Same situation as Floyd. If you didn't notice, money fighters never lose by shock upset KO anymore. And that is not a coincidence.
