Good read - no such thing as a lucky punch

I'll never forget when Micky Ward starched Alfonso Gomez with a single bodyshot , just when I was thinking that Wards corner should spare him further punishment , lightning hit Gomez in the side. Another unforgettable one was when Locomotora Castro stopped John David Jackson against all odds. If you don't love boxing before seeing something like that , you will after . Boxing encapsulates the whole human drama in 36 minutes. It's more than just a sport , it's brutally real theatre , even more so than the genius of Shakespeare because it is real.

I agree 100% with that. If you meant to throw the punch (always) , it wasn't luck.

When Fury uppercut himself that was an un,lucky punch as it was unintentional

My trainer once told me :
            - Everybody knows how to do it ,few are able to do it. But to go out there and make it happen - that's the real deal.

Glad I tuned in for that fight.

Wardley is a cool story; Huni was having a revelation type of performance before it all went up in smoke. Just wow.

So many shots get thrown and taken in boxing; but you never know which is going to be that one.

Other memorable mentions, Marciano knocking out Walcott late in the first fight, and Foreman ko of Moorer.

About Carl Thompson, I must say, one of the toughest fighters ever, despite his late defeat to Nelson. He really was a nightnare for most opponents. Ask David Haye, he lost to Thompson.
