I get he is the "great" Lomanchenko. But who else becomes a hall of famer with a record of 18-3 and a KO pecentage of 66%? Lomanchenkos glory and reputation comes from his incredibly stellar amateur record....but in terms of his professional career....its fair to middling to be honest.

Thats because he was fighting guys in his 2nd and 3rd fights that most fighters dont take until they are 20 or 25 fights into their career. So where most guys rack up an easy 20+ wins, loma skipped right over that. Part of it was the late start to his professional career, but mostly it was because he didn't need to. So he could have very easily been 38-3 or whatever but that would have been a waste of his time.

Remember that age does not determine everything because many older guys still have passion and certain success. In my opinion, that is called rich experience.

Salido was an 18 year veteran with 12 losses on his record. Russel Jr was one of those guys you talk about that padded his record and after losing to Loma has gone back to fighting easy touches. Your theory of coulda shoulda woulda doesnt hold. Name me the killers he actually went after? Walters looked the goods...fair enough....Rigondeaux was a much smaller challenger with a similar amateur pedigree who was risk averse his whole career. A couple of light punching brits....and a couple of thai cabbies.

I was hoping for one last Loma run, but at this point we'll see. I'm worried that we haven't heard anything from Loma directly since basically the Kambosos fight.

I hope he's doing well. That's what really matters. The boxing business really killed his love of the sport unfortunately.

I don't think that he will fight again. 37 is pretty old for a little guy , plus he's got back problems. There's really nothing left for him to do in boxing , a Tank or Shakur fight would have been really interesting a few years ago but now would be anti climatic . Being undersized is bad enough , being diminished by age and injury on top of it sure don't help Lomachenkos chances. He truly was a special fighter and a joy to watch do his thing. He should have turned pro earlier and had a lot more fights as a professional in my opinion but that's water under the bridge. Like all of these other guys who are "slow starters" , it cost him fights that he could have won.
