  • Comments Thread For: The 10 biggest changes to boxing in the 10 years since Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao

Rolly was interviewed on a recent podcast post Garica win and I actually agreed with what he was saying (mostly because I've already said the same thing) but the way he presented it, out of his mouth and his facial expressions showed how annoyed he was.

He basically said that with these massive paychecks and in the situation of Garcia-Haney, by putting the prize out in front of a fighter before they even fight, it lowers their hunger or will to win. Garcia knows he's getting a massive paycheck against Haney win/lose against Rolly, so he lost the desire to fight the second Rolly showed resistance.

Where in the past, you had to keep fighting to earn your way up and you know that losing meant you lost the chance for that massive paycheck. It kept the hunger and desire to win at a high within a fighter's mind. Nowadays, it's kind of like, oh well, I lost, but I'm still getting a phat check in my next guaranteed fight.

Unfortunately this is part of the landscape Turki has created. Aside from the gigantic paychecks, there are a lot of guaranteed fights made before the current fight even takes place. Why would a fighter put themselves in greater danger in the current fight if they know they have a bigger one looming regardless of win/lose?

JOURNALISM OVER DESPOT FELLATIO!! REPORTERS NOT PORTAPOTTIES!!!!

Point 10 is obviously crucially important.

It seems imperative that scandalised boxing journalists must now thoroughly research & report with factual evidence on any legit problems/scandals etc with all The Schmexcellence.

If a totalitarian tyrant decides to come after your life for doing so, then he is also going to try to portray you as any other kind of agent than one of truth.

When boiled down, there is only one relevant question for them to consider. It is a question just as likely to be asked by His Schmexcellency/his bosses as it is to be asked by your own loved ones:

How badly do you want it?

        Edit: grammar.

When someone tells you that the new is "Fake" , they just don't want to be exposed.

fools nowadays afraid to fight... they just in it for the payday now..

but this goes back to what i said... this newer gen didnt have a rough life coming up... most of them had it good so they are not willing to give it their all because they never experience the struggle of being poor, etc..

I guess the series of boring fights we've had recently have prompted this writer to bring back Floyd's name..

                Poverty breeds pugilism.

There are outliers, but generally you can pick apart who’s got a general killer instinct or who wants it more.

I think Barrera was criticized by Morales in the first fight because he was being painted as someone who grew up with a silver spoon…but Barrera was a dog of a fighter. Absolute killer.
