“You make a good point about Canelo not fighting Benavidez but never getting stripped. Yet Bivol was. I would be interested to know what is the reasoning behind that.”
Bread is right about neither Bivol nor Benavidez being wrong about what they chose to do, but let’s not play dumb about why Canelo wasn’t stripped but Bivol was. 1. Mexican favoritism. 2. Canelo is a cash cow for the WBC, Bivol is not. Benavidez will likely make them more money than Bivol will. 3. Because of the two reasons above , the wbc is scared to anger Canelo by enforcing a mandatory they know he wants to avoid. The one time they did that, he threw a female like fit and refused to fight for their title for two years. That was the whole reason behind the eventual creation of the franchise title a couple of years after his fit. It allowed Canelo to avoid Charlo at 160 and still claim to be champ.

I was watching some old HBO broadcasts the other day and they used to do a great job of reporting what fighters actually weighed on fight night. Very revealing, and highlights how the rehydration aspect of the game has just got worse since. For example, Oscar DeLaHoya used to enter the ring at 152/153lbs for his welterweight fights ( Ike Quartey was 156lb for his super fight with the Golden Boy). Compare that to, say, Devin Haney entering at a reported 165lb for his JUNIOR welterweight title win around 25 years later. Essentially two weight divisions bigger than Oscar, while officially being one division smaller. The sport has become ridiculous.

So The Breadman answers speculation about Boots weight (15-20 pounds heavier than opponent) come fight night ... with a speculation of his own (not more than 5 pound difference between Stationnis and Boots.) Then denigrates those who doubt with all kinds of shady rhetorics about density and body shape. Seems fair...

Bread trying to walk the tightrope today. John laid out exactly what happened with the pbc,wbc and team bennie. But Bread doesn't want to criticize any of them! Benavidez had the undisputed shot promised to him by Turki. And a multimillion payday against Callum Smith. But no ! Give me the email belt instead. Bread just too political to say the truth. And Chavez was not at or close to his peak against Pernell and certainly not against Randall. That's a pretty poor analysis by Bread there.
