  • Comments Thread For: Daily Bread Mailbag: The greatness of Usyk, Sugar Ray Leonard-Marvin Hagler, AI scoring and Evander Holyfield

In his latest mailbag, Stephen Edwards reflects on last weekends fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, looks at what it means for both of their legacies, and fields questions about computer scoring, dream fights involving Canelo and who was the better cruiserweight between Usyk and Holyfield

I love Holyfield as a fighter . There's an elephant in the room though. Steroids . Could he have done what he did without them ? I know how powerful steroids are and their effect on athletic performance , at least in the weight room. Good luck competing against someone on them if you aren't.
My opinion is that Holyfield would beat Usyk.

Just imagining a Holyfield vs Usyk matchup at cruiser or heavy would’ve been bliss for boxing fans. Perfect balance of skills and warrior spirit.

Wait, aren’t you a hugeeeee Canelo fan and also someone who criticized Boots for not fighting Vergil? Might be a bit sensitive that the comment pertained to exactly to who you are as a hypocritical human? Lmaoooo.

I'm a boxing fan. Canelo has nothing to do with Boots Ortiz. C'mon, get off the sauce.

Sure you are pal. Of course Canelo has nothing to do with them, but your love of him and problems with boots definitely makes you a hypocrite. If you have a problem with boots not moving up to face Ortiz, then surely you should have an issue with how Canelo ran away in fear from the #1 contender in his own division.

I would love to see a hypothetical fight between Holyfield and Usyk. I also agree with you about steroids and don't really know how Holyfield would do against Usyk without them.

For once, I also agree with Breadman that Usyk is the best heavy since Lennox and also that Vitali gives everybody fits head to head and beats them all.

The black fans who criticize Canelo for “ducking,” but then run to defend Boots for ducking Vergil Ortiz, are hypocrites. Plain and simple. Just apply the same standards to everyone equally.

Anytime someone brings up Evander Holyfield in the Mailbag they should include that he needs an asterisk next to his record. Because of the PEDs. Just like Bread likes to say about Canelo and his positive test.
