  • Weights: Carl Froch 167, Andre Dirrell 167.5

Undefeated Andre Dirrell struggled but eventually made weight during his second trip to the scales. He challenges WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch on Saturday night in Nottingham. Froch weighed-in at 167-pounds. Dirrell, during his first trip, was four ounces overweight. He returned a second time and scaled in at 167.5.

Well since he lost almost a full pound in the two hours he was given, I'm not sure that he struggled that much to get down to the weight. Perhaps he just overlooked it a little and didn't check to make sure he was on weight when he woke up. I could be wrong, however.

He said he was probably finding it hard to get the weight down... probably not too far from the truth.

I have not seen the pictures but Froch looked in incredible shape a few days out.

I wonder why he wasn't able to make the weight the first time? He lost an entire pound when he got back on the scale..? Looks like Froch already has the mental edge now if he didn't already..

This is kinda what I was thinking. If he was able to lose a whole pound within a two hour period, it seems like he could have just done it earlier had he known he was going to be over weight.

Didn't you read the article? The hotel scales were wrongly calibrated, and as a result he thought he was right on the weight limit that morning. If he'd known he was slightly over, he'd have taken it off before the weigh-in.

Why would the fact that the hotel scales Dirrell used were wrongly calibrated give Froch a mental edge? Froch is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, and so is the article. It has no bearing whatsoever on the fight.

It seems reasonable. I hope for his sake that it's true.

I honestly can't believe Froch is putting so much stock into this.

It really makes him look like an idiot.

There is nothing so "unprofessional" about it, this happens all the time and it's part of the game. These guys are trying to cut it right to the limit everytime and obviously Dirrell was trying to get 168 and not under.

It's funny, most people commenting on this have probably never tracked their weight closesly. You don't even need to work out to lose .4 pounds you can simply take a piss.
