        Zach Clayton DID NOT referee the first fight between Jersey Joe Walcott and Rocky Marciano. He was there at ringside, possibly as the timekeeper. The referee was Charley Daggert.

            Ali was a special fighter, so was Foreman, the difference was that Ali was a quick thinking strategist with an extraordinary will to win.

                In those days, that was a special world wide event - not just for a small number of boxing fans but for the general public as well. Kids at school talked about it.
