THEREIN lies the problem: only the hardcore fans knew margarito.

Understand: Nobody wanted to fight margarito because he was ALL DOWNSIDE. Sure, maybe he could beat Shane, or floyd, or oscar or vargas back then. But what would they accomplish by beating Tony?

Recognition? No
Money? no
Belt? No

Why waste six months in your prime for Margarito?

The CASUAL FAN (you know, the ones that bring the MONEY), wouldn't care, and the WBO belt was worthless.

SRL ignored Pryor cuz he was ducking Pryor. There are rumors that SRL moved up a division as an AMATEUR in order not to fight Pryor as an AMATEUR. No money as an AMATEUR but still didn't want to fight him.

Again look at my point. Zab fans and Floyd fan are the same people. You might disagree with that but is really true. Now for the last time I know Margarito was not offered to Floyd around the time of the Judah signing. But, Floyd could not gone on to fight Judah after Zab lossed to a bum. And, could of picked somebody else ala Baldomir who he later fought or Margaito who's belt was worth more than the one that Zab was carrying. Magarito blew out Gomez that he could of fought again in April. Margarito in the ring with Floyd. You would of seen the Mexican community and people around the Westcoast really be intruiged with this fight. And, it would of done more than 400k maybe close to 500k. Cuz Zab-Floyd is the same demographics of fans. Margarito-Floyd adds the mexican demorgraphic.

I'm a hardcore boxing fan and I didn't know about Margarito untill Viva Mexico kept mentioning him. Viva Mexico was Margarito's 24/7. Him and C'momang (However you spell his name).

He actually was undefeated against top Ring Magazine 10 WW cuz the Daniel Santos loss was at 154. When they fought at 147 it was a no contest

He got a vacant title fighting Andrew Lewis,

Manuel Gomez, Sebastian Lujan, Antonio Diaz, Kermit Cintron, and Hercules Kyvelos was ranked #10 at the time.

He had wins over passed their prime shot fighters in Frankie Randall and David Kamau.

And also beat prospects in Danny Perez and Sergio Martinez who is making quite a name for himself at 154. But, is very possibly that Martinez was green at the time.

Anyways if you don't really follow boxing and you are not a boxing geek this names means nothing to you. So you in your eyes you might think you making a point. But, if you really a hardcore boxing nut. You knew that Margarito was a legit top 3 WW and a very dangerous fighter. And, tougher fight than Judah fight. You knew Margarito was the real deal.

1) baldomir is not a bum. Baldo is a limited, but highly professional fighter.

Baldo beat judah, KO'd Gatti, went 12 w/ FMJ and went 12 w/ Forrest. Give dude a bit of respect.

2) I'm always entertained that Judah was such a terrible opponent for Floyd since he was coming off a loss. But Zab somehow became a GOOD opponent for Cotto coming off TWO losses and a long period of inactivity. And he was going to be a good opponent for Shane, who signed to fight him last year.

True Story.
